Using this combinatorial method of surface roughening and surface coating, 3-aminopropyltriethoxysilane (APTES) and mercaptopropyltrimethoxysilane (MPTMS) treatments were shown to transform native silicon into a protein-binding substrate comparable to nitrocellulose. |
